yes let’s! i have some feelings about the shortlist (and the prize overall) this year, but am waiting to officially finish reading everything before i make up my mind.
we definitely have similar views on wild dark shore, i remember reading your review. i think its main downfall was that it tried to appeal too much to commercial tastes…..but i would definitely watch that film
I only finished 3 in April thanks for reminding me that’s actuuuually a lot!! Like I’m sorry there’s not 20+ books in my April wrap up I need time to ponder the THEMES 🤣😩
definitely - if the average is 1 book, then anything above that is a lot! honestly i think the online book world has warped our brains when it comes to reading and numbers
Hello 👋 first time reader of your newsletter here. I visited since emmareads mentioned you so highly in her April books post 😁 I’m very interested in your take on books instead of scrolling. I’m really trying to do this at the moment. With the exception of Substack because I do tend to spend longer actually reading here.
In recent years I’ve done the bulk of my reading as audiobooks, but I’ve been trying to make a conscious effort to read more paper books to reduce screen time.
I’m really just a lurker on Substack, but I love these types of posts because they help me keep my Libby wishlist populated. I haven’t read any of these yet, but I’m definitely putting a few on my list.
Omggg r.e average person reads 1 book per month… let’s see I think I read about 12 - no, 21 per month and people still call me normal 😜 📖 🪱 am I a bookworm or what 😂
Side note… should I actually do that and count just for a joke?!? Now’s your time to place your bets closest gets a prize (not sure what the prize will be yet but oh well) please subscribe too ❤️ #bookworms4life
some great recommendations here, thank you for adding to my never ending tbr haha!
haha that’s what i’m here for
Please do the replacement of screen time with books challenge! I need one myself
I’ve just started Mercy Step, I’ve been reading the short list too! Let’s swap notes ❤️
Totally agree with wild dark shore I actively disliked the book but can see myself enjoying the movie!
